What was the highlight of APA Hotel Miyagi Furukawa Ekimae
Small but quite adequate
The location was good being very close to the station. There weren’t so many places to eat open during O-bon that were close to the hotel. The room had everything you needed and there were plenty of supplies. The robes provided were better than at other hotels. The plugs were not overly distant and not overly loose. Having breakfast was good although the space was pretty small and you need to get an explanation of the system. For non-Japanese there are a lot of English explanations of their rules and etiquette. Check out is very easy. They stored our luggage before we checked in even though the system to do so involving getting set up for a QR code on your phone. Only one small elevator and one room key given. But everything worked. A Japanese breakfast was included.
Things were a little cramped, or as they put it, better for the environment. I know that many places use the kind of faucets with the switch for the shower for space and efficiency reasons, but I personally am not crazy about that. It speaks to being more of a bare bones system - they don’t service the rooms until the third day but you can get fresh towels and robes and you can ask for specific supplies if you need them. You’re only given one key which has to go into the slot for providing power to the room. That ensures that you don’t use power while you’re not in the room but is inconvenient with two people in the room who are not always on the same schedule. But these are all minor inconveniences.

Very good value for money
Compared to the price I have paid, the facilities were excellent.
The bed was uncomfortable. The side close to the bathroom was lower than the other side next to the bed. They need to turn the mattress.
